College Assistant - Center for Career Development
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as first point of contact for students coming into the office or joining our virtual front desk
- Provide overview of Center for Career Development services and resources for students
- Review resumes and inform students on the process of uploading job search correspondence on to Handshake
- Schedule appointments for students to meet with advisors
- Guide students virtually and in person on how to use the Handshake platform
- Assist with front desk operations, including answering incoming calls and directing calls to appropriate staff members, reviewing general email correspondence from students
- Provide front desk coverage during staff absences and lunch breaks
- Assist with day to day functions, in addition to workshops/career fairs/and other events and activities
- Serve as moderator for Center for Career Development Core Workshops
- Place and follow up on work orders and requests
- Must be open to work until 6pm Monday - Thursday if needed
- May perform other assignments as needed
Minimum Qualifications
- High School diploma or GED
- Excellent ability to interact with others and problem solve
- Knowledge of the BMCC community/population
- Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Google Suite programs, and Zoom
- Willingness to learn
Preferred Qualifications
- Looking for a candidate that can stay a minimum of two semesters
- Ability to take initiative when necessary
- Flexible and adaptable to changing environments
- Interest or experience in marketing, social media, and content creation is a plus
Pay Rate: $19.00 per hour
